~Latest Creations Blog~

Make'n Cake has added a latest creations blog to our website so that we can share all of our designs, ingredients, flavors, and even some of the trials with the creations of our cakes.

Dolphin Birthday Cake

Since her last birthday, Jaymee has been giving me ideas for this year's cake. But, about two months ago, I asked her if she would let me choose the theme and make her a surprise cake...and she said "Yes!" She loves ALL animals, but dolphins are right up there at the top of the list with horses, dogs and cats. I am quite pleased with the outcome, even if I wasn't able to keep it a surprise until the party.  The result is a two layer cake (one layer being vanilla butter, while the other is chocolate, since the birthday girl couldn't decide) with vanilla buttercream filling and icing.

The only question Jaymee had was "Can you cut the tail off and make the dolphin Winter?" !

Old Boot Birthday Cake

It had been brought to my attention this past weekend that I had neglected to post a picture of my Old Boot sculpted cake on my website. This was the very first cake I made and sold to a paying customer. Hard to believe it was over two years ago already!

Pokeball Birthday

The idea for this latest cake has been several months in the making! My sister-in-law asked me back in...hmmm...November I think...to start coming up with ideas for a Pokemon cake for my nephew who'd be turning 7. I knew right away that I wanted to make a 3D design with my sports ball pan, and to incorporate as much red as I could, since it is my nephew's favorite color (as well as my own)! Now finally completed, it is a moist red velvet cake, with sweet vanilla buttercream filling, and covered with the same. And the most fun part, was that I left it a surprise for everyone until we showed up at the party!

Birthday Cupcake Cake - Fairy Tale Theme

I had an order for a Fairy Themed Cupcake Cake over the New Year Holidays. My idea was to have a type of fairy picnic in a green flowery field. Inspired by the most popular fairy in all of Neverland, Tinkerbell, I started baking and decorating. The more I get to build these figures, the better I think I am getting. My kids have been joking over the past couple of days that, "There is a small fairy living in our fridge mom! I hope it doesn't eat all the cupcakes..."

Lego Themed Birthday

Two months ago when our son started thinking about what he wanted to do for his December birthday party, we all thought that an outdoor party would be fun. Snowboarding, tobogganing, wiener roast, the works! However, I didn't want to have to fight with plates and forks or cupcake liners if the weather turned out to be less than mild. So, this was the solution! The fact that he is a LEGO fanatic just made the idea more perfect!

Chocolate Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes

Wait no longer for the reveal of the second of Make 'n Cake's new flavors! Today I started out with a moist chocolate cupcake, then filled it with jelly (grape Smuckers is what I happened to have on hand) and topped it with a smooth, creamy peanut butter frosting. The result was a rich, delicious treat that begged for a glass of cold milk to follow! Needless to say, I will be adding this flavor to my list as well!
